FAQ

Covid-19 Precautions: Secure virtual telehealth appointments available. Masks for unvaccinated persons, hand sanitizing, and physical distance are required for in-person appointments. Appointments are spaced apart by a minimum of 30 minutes and high touch areas are sanitized.

Talk, Art, Walk?: Do I need to engage in all three to be a client? Nope! However, they’re all offered because engaging our bodies and brains in different ways helps process and manage stress, and provides different forms of emotional connection and expression. Sometimes words alone aren’t enough or aren’t available to us. Talking primarily relies on the executive functioning part of our brain (focus, logic, planning, following directions, managing emotions and impulses) - which can be altered by trauma and grief.

Hours: Individual Therapy - by appointment (Monday - Thursday). Groups and Workshops vary.

Sounds Good! How do I get started?: I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we’re a good fit for one another: call 475-267-8756 or email debra@creatementalwellness.com to schedule. Once we’re ready to work together I’ll email you a link to your own client portal with some intake paperwork that you can easily fill out online before our first session so we can make good use of our time together.

Fees: I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we’re a good fit for one another: call 475-267-8756 or email debra@creatementalwellness.com to schedule. I believe therapy should be accessible to all and offer an income-based sliding scale of $75 - $150 per session and an individual session is 50 minutes. I also offer 90 and 120 minute sessions. The first appointment is called a diagnostic assessment which is $150 and 75-90 minutes. I acknowledge that my sliding scale is still outside of the budgetary constraints for many. I am happy to provide referrals to clinicians that may offer a lower-fee option.

Insurance: Therapy sessions at Create Mental Wellness Counseling are considered Out-of-Network with all insurance companies. I am happy to provide a Super Bill for you to submit to your health insurance. One reason I don’t panel with insurance companies is because they are based on a medical model of care which imposes many limitations on practicing therapy in the manner I offer to my clients. If you plan to use your insurance I recommend asking your insurance provider these questions to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health / behavioral health out-of-network benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? Is it individual, family, or both? If so, what is it and have I met it/them yet?

  • What percentage is covered for out-of-network therapy?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  • Do I need a referral for services to be covered?

Payment: To be paid at the time of each session. I accept all major credit cards and HSA.

Cancellations and Rescheduling: Life happens - please call at least 24-48 hours before your appointment time to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations will be charged in full.
